Oh Dear

Last update November 14, 2005? How could that be?? Oh dear. Sorry for the minor lapse in posting updates. No excuses! So back on the wagon (diet, exercise, daily posting, you know the post-New Year's drill).

So... Thanksgiving in Australia... a wee bit of surfing and then out for pumpkin pizza. We thought the pumpkin part was at least a modest nod in the direction of tradition. Climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge before Thanksgiving dinner? Probably not traditional but hey, it was awesome. We started out in Sydney - checked out the beaches (Bondi for people watching; Manly for the aforementioned wave-riding); strolled the parks; enjoyed the restaurants and city life. Sydney is fabulously clean and beautiful, very outdoors-y, very friendly and easy to get around.

From Sydney, we headed to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, i.e., the Red Centre, i.e., the Outback. Two nights in the bush and we were ready for hot showers, but it was great fun and absolutely beautiful.

From Alice Springs, we took off for the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef. Two reef sharks and one sea turtle later, we were seasoned Aussies. Hard to say which is better, snorkeling or a white sandy beach. Luckily, we didn't have to choose.

Then it was back to Anchorage for a few weeks, then home to DC for the holidays. Now I'm back in Anchorage where it's not too snowy, not too cold, and not too Redskins crazy. We'll see what they think of my vintage Redskins sweater on Saturday against the Seahawks.

Stay tuned - no more two months posting holidays.
